What is Nano Silver? | Long Island Nano Silver Products
I was recently diagnosed with a Staphylococcus infection in my eye. Prior to seeing a doctor, I had assumed that I had a Stye and went about with the common home remedy of hot compresses several times a day. When I saw no improvement, that’s when I headed to the doctor for the advice of a trained medical professional.
The doctor prescribed Erythromycin eye ointment, applied several times a day for a week.
If you’ve ever used any kind of eye ointment, then you know how much it totally sucks. You’re advised not to let the tip of the tube touch any part of your eye or eye lid, but the thick stream of ointment doesn’t separate from the tube on its own. I’m still trying to figure out how to comply with this rule. Then of course, ointment of any king in your eye is simply unpleasant. It gets in your eye lashes, it blurs your vision, and about the only thing you can do after treatment is lay down with your eyes closed to let the ointment soak in to do its job.
In my case, the Erythromycin ointment wasn’t working. A week later, my infection was no better. Thankfully, it was no worse.
Taking the advice of a retired MD friend of mine and a couple of other friends who advise people on alternative health remedies, I replaced the Erythromycin with colloidal silver. The next day, all symptoms of my infection were gone.
The process of applying a few drops of silver to my eye was much simpler than applying the ointment. There was no mess. I could immediately return to whatever activity I was doing. I didn’t have to wait for it to soak in and then wipe away the excess as I had to with the ointment. And, in addition to applying the silver to my eye, I also took it orally. This is something I couldn’t have done with Erythomycin, due to this particular antibiotic historically giving me severe gastrointestinal discomfort (plus there’s that whole issue of antibiotics messing up all the good intestinal bacteria).
There’s no doubt that the colloidal silver worked for my eye infection. But, what do the scientists and doctors say about this home remedy? Most of the online information that I found very clearly stated that colloidal silver has absolutely no health benefits what so ever and that claims by manufacturers are simply falsehoods used to prey upon the uneducated and ill-informed in order to sell a product which doesn’t work and might even cause harm.
On the other side of the spectrum, Dr. Josh Axe lists three ways that colloidal silver works at the cellular level and the top eight uses/benefits of colloidal silver.
There are also studies published on the National Institutes of Health website which indicate various benefits with many uses of colloidal silver.
In a study2 at the University of Virginia, investigating the use of silver in the treatment of wounds, researchers state, “The beneficial effects of silver in reducing or preventing infection have been seen in the topical treatment of burns and chronic wounds…”.
In research3 done at the University of Adelaide in Australia, colloidal silver was observed to help a patient with chronic rhinosinusitis. Reseachers said, “…symptoms of a previously recalcitrant Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus)-infected chronic rhinosinusitis patient were observed to have improved markedly.”
